Thank you for taking the time to visit this website, and for your interest in this exciting opportunity within Wychavon and Malvern Hills District Councils. There’s so much to say about this role – and as a planner by profession myself, I’m particularly enthusiastic about this appointment.
South Worcestershire is already a highly successful place. Keeping it that way while embracing and managing high demand for growth is a tricky balancing act. The districts take in six towns, many rural communities and beautiful countryside that includes the Malverns AONB and borders the Cotswolds to the south. It’s well connected by road and rail and is a gateway to the south and south west while also being an ideal location for commuters to the West Midlands’ major conurbations.
The two local authorities now have a well-established joint workforce, and together with Worcester City Council are currently reviewing a development plan covering the whole of South Worcestershire. Councillors in both districts are very keen to protect our beautiful landscape and historic environment. But they are also committed to growth. We must continue to meet requirements for a good mix of housing, and in particular for more affordable housing. And a crucial part of this role is about making sure we have the necessary infrastructure to accommodate growth – including digital infrastructure.
It’s a high-potential role, and we want candidates who can demonstrate the strategic vision and leadership skills to make the most of it. The councils have engaged Solace in Business to support them in making this key appointment. Should you have any queries about the role or the recruitment process, I encourage you to contact them directly on 020 7976 3311.
I look forward to receiving your application.
Chief Executive at Malvern Hills District Council and Managing Director at Wychavon District Council
