About Malvern Hills District Council

The Malvern Hills district covers 223 square miles of west Worcestershire, dominated by the Malvern Hills on its western border. It comprises the four major settlements of Malvern, Tenbury, Kempsey and Upton, which together account for over half of the district’s population. The district is home to approximately 76,000 people, living in 34,000 households. Malvern Hills employs approximately 160 people, predominantly based at our main council offices in the centre of Malvern and in our Environmental Services Depot.

The current political makeup of the Council is as follows:

  • Conservative 12
  • Liberal Democrat 9
  • Green Party 5
  • Independent 10
  • Labour 1 

Councillor Sarah Jane Rouse is the Leader of the Council.
